# Mallorca, Spain: Take the Scenic Route


There are some places that make you want to slow down, look around, and say, "Wow... we're really here."

Mallorca was one of those places for us.

One of the things we loved most was how easy it was to explore. Hop on a bus, sit back, and let someone else do the driving. No stressing over parking, no worrying about directions just choose a destination and enjoy the ride. Palma was wonderfully connected, making it easy to combine beaches, villages, markets and culture. The incredible Cathedral of Mallorca, rising beside the Mediterranean, is one of those places that makes you stop in your tracks. The light, the architecture, the history... it feels almost magical.

We wandered through the old streets, discovering art galleries, beautiful courtyards, little shops and hidden corners. Palma's historic centre is practically an invitation to get a little lost and sometimes getting lost is exactly how you find the best parts of a place. Then there were the beaches with turquoise water, warm sunshine, and sandy toes. That wonderful Mediterranean feeling of having absolutely nowhere you need to be.

Let's talk about the food! Fresh seafood, tapas, local produce, pastries and, of course, the famous ensaimada. Mallorca's markets are full of colour, smells and flavours that make wandering around feel like an adventure all by itself.

One of our favourites was Alcúdia, where the historic walled town comes alive with its market. Walking among the stalls, exploring the old stone streets and soaking up the atmosphere reminded us that sometimes the best travel experiences aren't the big attractions they're the everyday moments happening right in front of you.

Mallorca has even more to discover: the dramatic Serra de Tramuntana, charming mountain villages like Sóller, Deià and Valldemossa, Bellver Castle and its incredible views, Joan Miró's artistic legacy, boat trips and Mediterranean sunsets, hidden coves and crystal-clear water, ancient villages, markets and local traditions, olive groves, vineyards and the beautiful countryside.

I think our biggest takeaway from Mallorca was this:

Travel doesn't have to be complicated to be extraordinary.

Sometimes it's simply getting on a bus with no worries, wandering down a street you've never seen before, finding an amazing meal, stopping to admire a sculpture, dipping your toes in the sea or sitting quietly in a magnificent church.

It's being curious.

It's being present.

It's saying yes to one more adventure.

Don't rush through your destination checking things off a list.

Ride the bus. Wander the market. Taste something new. Walk the beach. Look up at the architecture. Stop for the view. Get a little lost.

Because sometimes the most memorable souvenirs aren't things we bring home.

They're the moments when we stopped rushing and simply enjoyed being there.
