# Grocery Shopping on Vacation

Who says the vacation adventure starts when you step outside the airport? Sometimes, it starts with a grocery cart!

There is something wonderfully mindful about wandering through a grocery store in a place that isn't home. The signs might be in another language, the brands are unfamiliar, the fruits look different, and even the smallest things can surprise you.

What does that cheese taste like?
What is that strange looking fruit?
Why are there twelve kinds of yogurt?
And how exactly are we supposed to know which laundry soap we normally buy?

Grocery shopping while travelling gives us a little glimpse into everyday life. We get to see what locals eat, what is grown nearby, what is in season and what people reach for when they're simply going about their day.

Then there are the discoveries!

Fresh bread from the local bakery, cheese you've never tried and local fruit. You may even cross a bottle of something delicious or a favourite snack you didn't even know existed. Maybe even ingredients that inspire you to create your own vacation dinner.

There is also something special about cooking while on vacation. Not every meal needs to be at a restaurant. Sometimes breakfast on the balcony, a simple lunch or dinner made together becomes one of the moments we remember most.

So slow down in that grocery aisle.

Look around.
Try something new.
Ask questions.
Put something unfamiliar in your cart.

Because grocery shopping isn't just about buying food.

It's a chance to taste a little bit of local life.

And if you happen to come home with a snack you can't pronounce but absolutely love...

Well, that's a souvenir too!

Curiously yours,
Ms. Mindful Traveller
