# Yoga, Home and Away

Yoga has a funny way of reminding us that we don't need much to feel better. A little space, a few quiet minutes and a willingness to slow down can be enough.

At home, yoga can become part of the rhythm of everyday life. We roll out the mat before the day gets busy, stretch after a long day, or take a few minutes to breathe when our minds are running in twelve different directions. There's no need for perfect poses or an impressive level of flexibility. Sometimes the most useful practice is simply showing up and noticing how your body feels today.

Then we travel, and the mat comes with us.

Yoga can look very different away from home. Maybe it's a class overlooking the ocean, a few stretches on a balcony, or ten quiet minutes in a hotel room while everyone else is still sleeping. There is something special about practising in a different place. The surroundings change, but the practice gives us something familiar to return to.

Yoga offers something for the mind, body and soul.

For the body, it can help with strength, balance, mobility and flexibility. For the mind, the combination of movement and breathing can create a little space between us and all those thoughts competing for attention. Finally for the soul, there can be something deeply satisfying about taking time to reconnect with ourselves rather than constantly moving on to the next thing.

Yoga doesn't have to be another item on the vacation checklist. In fact, it might be the opposite. It can be the thing that helps us step off the checklist for a while.

At home or away, on a mat or simply sitting quietly and breathing, the invitation is the same: come back to yourself.

Taking care of ourselves shouldn't be something we only remember to do when we're on vacation.

Take your practice with you. Your body, mind and soul travel everywhere you do.

Flexibly yours,
Ms. Mindful Traveller
