# Moving for the Adventures Ahead

We don't exercise just to look good in a swimsuit or fit into our favourite clothes. We exercise because we want to keep saying yes to life, to travel, to new experiences, and to all the adventures still waiting for us. We want to climb those stairs, wander through unfamiliar streets, explore local markets, carry our luggage, and keep up with whatever exciting opportunity comes our way. Growing older may be inevitable, but losing our independence and mobility doesn't have to be something we simply accept without a fight.

The secret, we're discovering, is finding movement that feels less like a chore and more like a part of living. For us, that means pickleball! It gets our hearts pumping, challenges our balance and coordination, builds strength, and brings a wonderful bonus of friendship and laughter. We also happen to live without a car for half the year , which means walking is simply part of our everyday routine. Getting to where we need to go and carrying our groceries home might not look like a workout on paper, but those everyday activities help keep our legs strong and our bodies moving. Add a little yoga to the mix, and we're working on flexibility, balance, and staying limber enough to keep bending, stretching, and reaching for the next adventure.

Of course, there is no one-size-fits-all exercise plan. What feels invigorating to one person might feel overwhelming to another. Our bodies, abilities, and energy levels change, and the goal is to find activities that meet us where we are. For some, that might mean a vigorous workout or a competitive game of pickleball. For others, it could be a gentle yoga class, a swim, dancing in the kitchen, or a daily walk around the neighbourhood. The important thing is to keep moving in ways that are enjoyable, sustainable, and suited to our needs. Consistency matters far more than trying to keep up with someone else's pace.

Perhaps we should think of exercise as an investment in our future selves. Every walk, every stretch, every game, and every time we choose to move is a little deposit into our personal adventure fund. We may not be able to control every aspect of aging, but we can give ourselves a better chance of staying strong, capable, and independent for as long as possible.

**Our mindful reminder?** We're not just exercising for the life we have today; we're moving for all the places we still want to go, the people we still want to meet, and the adventures we haven't even imagined yet. After all, the goal isn't simply to add more years to our lives. It's to add more life to our years!

Yours feeling fit,

Ms. Mindful Traveller
