Lead With Your Heart

What if we put a little more love into everything we do?

Not just the big, obvious things. The way we greet someone. The meal we prepare. The coffee we make for someone we love. The stranger we smile at. The friend we check in on. The helping hand we offer when nobody asked.

What if love became our starting point?

There is something powerful about leading with your heart. When we choose kindness instead of impatience, generosity instead of keeping score, and curiosity instead of judgment, we never really know where that little bit of goodness might travel.

A smile can change someone’s morning. A kind word can change someone’s day. A small gesture can remind someone that they’re not alone.

The beautiful thing about putting love into the world is that it rarely stays where we leave it. It travels. It moves from person to person, heart to heart, sometimes in ways we’ll never see.

Travel teaches us this beautifully

One of the greatest gifts of travelling is discovering love in places we never expected to find it. In the kindness of a stranger who helps us find our way. In the local who recommends their favourite little restaurant. In the person who notices we’re struggling with the language and patiently helps us. In friendships that begin with a simple “Hola.” In a shared meal with people who, only hours earlier, were complete strangers.

We travel looking for places, experiences and adventures… and sometimes we discover connection. That’s the magic.

We may speak different languages, come from different cultures and live thousands of kilometres apart, yet somehow we recognize the same things: A laugh. A warm smile. A helping hand. A shared meal. A genuine kindness.

Love doesn’t need a passport.

Maybe that’s why sending love into the universe feels so powerful. We may never know exactly where it goes. Imagine if every kind thing we put out became part of someone else’s story and they carried a little of it forward too. A million little acts of kindness, travelling farther than we could ever imagine.

So today, let’s lead with our hearts. Put love into your work. Put love into your friendships. Put love into your family. Put love into your travels. Put love into the way you treat strangers, neighbours, servers, drivers and everyone who crosses your path.

When you’re having one of those days when the world feels a little less loving?

Be the love you’re hoping to find.

The universe doesn’t always send it back in the same package. It may come back as: A new friendship. A beautiful conversation. A helping hand when you need one. A stranger who becomes a friend. A moment of unexpected joy. Or simply that wonderful feeling of knowing you left a little more goodness behind than you found.

Mindful Traveller thought: Lead with your heart. Put love into whatever you do and send a little more goodness into the world than you take from it. You never know how far that love will travel or where it might find its way back to you.

Love travels. The more we send into the world, the more beautiful the journey becomes. ❤️

A lit candle glowing warmly - a small light of kindness Making Memories with Friends

Some of the best moments in life are the ones we get to share with great friends. Recently, we had the joy of visiting two dear friends who are turning a lifelong dream into reality as they settle into their new home. There is something special about celebrating a new chapter with people you care about and knowing you’ll be making memories together for years to come.

Our evening continued with an outstanding Greek supper at Taverna Greek Resto Bar & Grill. Dimitri and his brother gave us an incredible dining experience, and our waitress, Summer, was truly a class act. Taverna’s own story is rooted in family, food and bringing people together, which felt especially fitting for our evening. If you haven’t been, put it at the top of your list!

Then it was off to the Capitol Theatre for Dave Fenley, whose show beautifully mixed story and song. Good food, great music, a new home to celebrate and, most importantly, wonderful friends to share it all with.

We often think the gift is in the experience, but really, the greatest gift is having the right people beside us to experience it with. Those are the moments that become the memories we keep. ❤️

Yours in friendship, Ms. Mindful Traveller

There is something magical about the changing of seasons in New Brunswick. One day we are holding onto the last warm days of summer, and the next, the mornings are crisp, the sweaters are out, and the landscape has begun its spectacular transformation.

Autumn reminds us that change can be beautiful. The gardens are being harvested, baskets are filled with apples, vegetables and herbs, and we tuck away the goodness of summer to enjoy in the months ahead. There is something comforting about knowing that the tomatoes, squash, potatoes and preserves will find their way into soups, stews and meals when the snow eventually arrives.

And then there are the drives.

No destination required. Just get in the car and get a little lost in the colours. Take the long way home. Follow a winding road through forests painted in brilliant reds, oranges and golds. Roll down the window and breathe in that unmistakable autumn air. Stop at a roadside stand for apples or a pumpkin. Pull over simply because the view is too beautiful to drive past.

Back home, there might be a pot of soup simmering on the stove, something warm baking in the oven and a mug of chai filling the kitchen with the scent of cinnamon and spice. The evenings arrive a little earlier, the blankets come out, and sweater weather gives us permission to slow down.

Perhaps that is autumn’s little reminder: we don’t have to rush through change. We can savour it.

So, before the leaves are gone, take the drive. Get lost in the colours. Breathe in the crisp morning air. Gather what the garden has given you.

The best destination is simply the road that makes you stop and say, look at that.

This is my New Brunswick in autumn, and I wouldn’t want to rush through a single golden moment.

Colourfully yours, Ms. Mindful Traveller

Saying goodbye is never easy.

Especially when it’s your child boarding a plane and heading halfway around the world.

Today, our son leaves to return to Korea, and as much as we are grateful for the time we had together, there is that familiar heaviness that comes with watching someone you love leave. The house will feel a little quieter. The dinner table will have one less place filled. We will find ourselves looking at the calendar, already wondering when we will see him again.

Travel has a funny way of teaching us about goodbyes. We leave places we love and people we love, knowing that the distance between us doesn’t lessen what they mean to us. Sometimes, in fact, it reminds us just how much they mean.

These visits become precious because they are not ordinary. They are gathered around family meals, conversations that stretch late into the evening, laughter, coffee, little moments that might otherwise go unnoticed. We tuck them away, knowing they will carry us until the next time.

So today, our hearts are both full and a little heavy.

Full from having our son home. Heavy because we will miss him terribly.

But underneath the sadness is something else, a quiet excitement. Goodbye doesn’t mean the story ends. It simply means we have another hello to look forward to.

Until we meet again, we will carry these moments with us, count the days when we need to, and remind ourselves that distance is only geography.

Love travels much farther than that.

Somewhere between New Brunswick and Korea, there is a family connected by a whole lot of love, a few time zones, and the promise of our next visit. Maybe next time we will be the ones leaving the airport in Korea after a reunion.

Lovingly yours, Ms. Mindful Traveller
