Week 4 August 2026 Mindful Moments Digest

Do What Scares You

Sometimes the best adventures begin with three little words:

“I’m a little scared.”

As Ms. Mindful Traveller, I’ve learned that feeling uncomfortable doesn’t always mean we should turn around. Sometimes it means we are standing at the edge of something new, exciting and wonderfully alive. We have great friends who are the most courageous travellers out there, always looking for a new adventure, always thrill seeking. We absolutely love watching them soak in every opportunity to try new things. Mr. Mindful Traveller and I have work to do here.

Maybe for some of you it’s travelling somewhere unfamiliar. Maybe it’s parasailing above the water, climbing into a boat, bungee jumping or boarding an airplane. Maybe it’s tasting something you’ve never tried before or wandering down that little road you’ve never noticed and discovering a hidden gem. Sometimes the biggest adventure isn’t a place at all. It’s discovering something about yourself that you didn’t even know was there.

The courage to try. The courage to say yes. The courage to be a beginner. The courage to step outside that comfortable little bubble we sometimes build around ourselves. Now, I’m not suggesting we throw caution to the wind. Mindful adventure means knowing the difference between a healthy stretch and a genuine danger. Safety first, adventure second!

But when something is safe and simply makes your tummy do a few nervous flips? Maybe take the leap. There is something magical about that moment when fear turns into excitement… when “I can’t do this” becomes “I actually did it!”

That is when we feel alive.

So this week, ask yourself:

What have I been afraid to try? What makes me a little uncomfortable? What adventure might be waiting just outside my comfort zone?

Maybe your next great memory is hiding there. You might return from the adventure with more than photographs and stories. You might come home knowing yourself a little better. So take a deep breath, open your heart, and when the moment is right. Do something that scares you just a little. The risk might just be worth the feeling of being truly, wonderfully alive.

Yours seeking more adventure, Ms. Mindful Traveller

Parasailing high above the ocean, a reminder that the best adventures often start with a little fear Say Yes to the Journey

Sometimes the greatest adventures begin with four very simple words: “Yes, let’s do it!”

Travel has a funny way of presenting us with opportunities we never planned for. An invitation to join a hike. A last-minute ticket to a concert. A bus tour heading somewhere you’ve never been. A path leading up a mountain when you had no intention of hiking that day.

And sometimes, if it interests you even the slightest bit, the answer should simply be YES!

Say yes to the unexpected. Say yes to the detour. Say yes to the invitation. Say yes to trying something you’ve never done before.

Because those spontaneous moments often become the stories we tell for years.

The mountain we almost didn’t climb. The concert we almost didn’t attend. The little adventure that wasn’t on the itinerary but somehow became the highlight of the entire trip.

These are the mindful moments that awaken something inside us. They make our hearts beat a little faster, our souls feel a little lighter and our world just a little bigger.

Travel isn’t always about seeing the sights on the brochure. Sometimes it’s about being open enough to see where the moment takes you.

Of course, we need to be sensible and safe but we don’t need to let fear make every decision for us.

So the next time someone says, “Come with us!” or you stumble upon something that sparks even the tiniest bit of curiosity, pause before saying no.

Maybe that little spark is an invitation.

Say yes.

You never know what wonder is waiting on the other side of that word.

And years from now, when the voyage is long over and the suitcases are back in the closet, those unexpected adventures may be the very moments you remember most.

Because sometimes the best souvenirs aren’t things we bring home.

They are the moments that stay in our hearts.

Yours taking it all in, Ms. Mindful Traveller

Girl Day Adventures

Sometimes the best adventures don’t require a plane ticket, a passport, or a perfectly planned itinerary.

Sometimes, all you need is your girlfriends, a little free time, and a willingness to explore.

A girl day adventure might be a hike through the woods, a walk along the water, discovering a new trail, exploring a hidden little spot like a suspended bridge, or simply finding somewhere beautiful to sit and enjoy the view.

When we take time to step away from the busyness of everyday life and step into nature, something wonderful happens. We breathe a little deeper. We laugh a little louder. We notice the little things the sound of the water, the breeze through the trees, the sunshine on our faces.

When we experience those moments with friends, they become memories.

There is something incredibly special about time together. The conversations that wander from serious to silly. The stories created simply because we decided to spend the day together. We don’t always need a big vacation to feel like we’ve escaped. Sometimes a girl day adventure is the getaway our souls have been asking for.

So grab your girlfriends, lace up those shoes, pack a water bottle or a picnic, and go see where the day takes you.

Explore. Laugh. Wander. Breathe.

Because the destination isn’t always the point.

The real adventure is the time we share along the way. Make a date with your girls. Get outside. Explore somewhere new. Put away the phones for a little while and be present with the people who make your heart happy.

Life is better when we adventure together.

Yours adventurous, Ms. Mindful Traveller

Life can get busy. Between work, family, errands, travel and all the things on our never ending to do lists, it’s easy to forget one very important person you!

Taking care of yourself isn’t selfish. It’s a little reminder that you deserve some of your own time, too.

Maybe it’s treating yourself to a massage and letting those tired muscles finally relax. Maybe it’s wandering through the shops with no agenda, finding something that makes you smile. Perhaps it’s putting together a puzzle, getting lost in a good book, or curling up on the couch for a good old fashioned binge watching session.

And guess what? It all counts.

Self care doesn’t have to be productive. Sometimes the most mindful thing you can do is absolutely nothing that needs to be checked off a list.

So today, give yourself permission to pause. Put down the to do list. Turn off the guilt. Pour yourself a favourite drink. Do something simply because it makes you feel good.

When we take time to refill our own cup, we have so much more to give to the people and adventures we love.

Your reminder from Ms. Mindful Traveller: Rest is not wasted time, relaxation is not laziness and taking care of yourself is always worth the time.

Now go ahead… book the massage, browse the shops, finish that puzzle, read the book, or press “next episode.”

Be mindful. Be kind to yourself. And remember YOU are worth taking care of.

Yours well rested, Ms. Mindful Traveller

A cozy puzzle spread out on a table, a simple mindful way to take time for yourself The Joy of All-Inclusive

One of the most mindful things you can do is absolutely nothing at all.

There is a special kind of joy that comes with an all inclusive vacation. You arrive, put down your suitcase and suddenly realize, you’re off duty! No grocery shopping. No cooking. No dishes. No making the bed. No wondering what’s for dinner. Someone else has got it covered!

Your biggest decisions might be: Pool or beach? Margarita or mocktail? Lunch now or after one more swim?

That is the beauty of it all.

An all inclusive gives us permission to slow down. To sleep in without an alarm. To linger over breakfast. To read a book by the pool. To take a walk along the beach simply because we can. To enjoy a long lunch with nowhere else to be.

There is something wonderfully liberating about having nowhere to go and nothing you have to do.

Of course, we can still explore. Take an excursion. Try the local food. Learn a few words of the language. Dance to the music. Meet new people. Discover what lies beyond the resort, but we don’t have to.

Sometimes vacation isn’t about seeing how much we can accomplish. Sometimes it’s about recharging the person who has been accomplishing too much.

An all inclusive can be a little reset button for the soul. A chance to put down the responsibilities of everyday life and simply be present in the sunshine, surrounded by good food, beautiful scenery and maybe even a few friends or that special someone sitting beside you. Let’s never underestimate the joy of being pampered. A cool drink arriving at your chair. Fresh towels. Someone else preparing dinner. A beautiful sunset without a single dish waiting for you afterward. Now that is mindfulness! 😂

So take the vacation. Unplug. Put your feet up.

Eat the dessert maybe even two.

Stay for the sunset. Sleep in.

Laugh a little louder.

Give yourself permission to enjoy the luxury of doing absolutely nothing productive.

The greatest gift we can give ourselves isn’t another adventure.

It’s a little time to simply breathe, relax and remember how good it feels to be on vacation.

Longing for rest and relaxation, Ms. Mindful Traveller

A relaxing beach scene with calm waters and sunshine, the perfect all-inclusive vacation view Living Our Dream

There is something magical about going on vacation. You arrive with your suitcase, your sunglasses and that wonderful feeling that says, “Ahhh… we’re here!” You soak up the sunshine, eat delicious food, explore, relax and count the days until you have to go home.

But what happens when vacation becomes something more?

For Mr. and Ms. Mindful Traveller, that place is Puerto Vallarta. We don’t just visit this tropical paradise, we live there for half the year. Let me tell you, there is a huge difference between spending two weeks somewhere and actually making a life there.

The weather certainly helps! There is something about waking up to sunshine, stepping outside in the warmth and knowing that winter is happening somewhere far away.

Then there is the food. Oh, the food! Fresh flavours, tacos, seafood, fruit, street food and little restaurants tucked away down streets we might never have discovered on a two week holiday. When you live somewhere, you have the luxury of becoming a regular. You find your favourite little places. You start to recognize the faces. You become part of the rhythm.

Sometimes there is a language barrier. Living in another country reminds you what it feels like to be the one searching for the right words. Sometimes we get it right. Sometimes we absolutely do not! But every hola, gracias, por favor and attempt at conversation is a little bridge between cultures. It teaches humility, patience, and most importantly, it teaches us that communication is about so much more than perfect words.

Then there is the pace of life.

Things don’t always happen at the speed we’re accustomed to. Appointments, errands and plans can unfold a little differently. At first, that can be frustrating.

But slowly, you begin to realize something. Maybe life doesn’t have to move so fast. Maybe the slower pace is an invitation to notice the world around you. To linger over coffee. To talk with a neighbour. To watch the sunset. To take the long way home.

Living in a foreign country teaches you that home doesn’t have to be just one place on a map.

It can be the place where you feel welcomed. The place where you have friends. The place where you know where to buy your favourite coffee. The place where the waiter recognizes you. The place where you have favourite walks, favourite restaurants and favourite views.

Vacation lets you experience a place.

Living there lets you experience a life.

Maybe that is the greatest mindful moment of all: allowing ourselves to step outside what is familiar and discover that we are capable of creating a beautiful life somewhere completely different.

Puerto Vallarta has given Mr. and Ms. Mindful Traveller sunshine, adventure, incredible food, new friendships, cultural discoveries, plenty of laughs and a few opportunities to practice our Spanish! It has also given us perspective. We have learned that sometimes the best way to appreciate the life you have is to step outside of it for a while.

So whether you dream of living abroad for a few months, spending winters somewhere warm or simply immersing yourself in another culture for a little longer than a vacation allows… Seize the opportunity.

Slow down.

Learn the language.

Taste the food.

Meet the people.

Embrace the differences.

And let another place teach you something about yourself.

Because sometimes you don’t just travel to another country.

Sometimes you discover another way to live.

Lovingly yours, Ms. Mindful Traveller

The Journey Together

There is something wonderfully comforting about travelling with a group. You don’t have to figure everything out yourself. Someone else has planned the route, arranged the transportation and figured out where you’re supposed to be and all you have to do is show up and enjoy the ride!

Group tours can open doors to places we might never discover on our own. A knowledgeable guide can tell you the stories behind a building, introduce you to local traditions, point out the little details you might have walked right past and sometimes lead you down a road you never would have thought to take.

You start the journey as strangers and, somewhere between the bus rides, shared meals, sightseeing, laughter and “Does anyone know where we’re supposed to meet?” moments, friendships can begin.

There is something special about sharing an experience with people who were strangers when you arrived and may become friends by the time you leave.

Let’s be honest there is comfort in having someone to laugh with when the plans don’t quite go according to plan! A missed turn, a delayed bus, unexpected rain or a restaurant that wasn’t quite what you expected can become part of the story you tell later.

Group travel also reminds us that everyone experiences a destination differently. Someone may be fascinated by the history, another by the food, someone else by the architecture, while another simply wants to sit on a bench and watch the world go by. We don’t have to see everything the same way to enjoy the journey together.

So be open. Talk to the person sitting beside you. Share a recommendation. Invite someone along for coffee. Learn a name. Laugh with the group.

When the tour leader says, “We leave in ten minutes!” maybe don’t be the one still shopping!

The beauty of group travel is that you aren’t simply collecting destinations. You’re collecting shared moments.

Long after the tour is over, you may forget the exact name of the street you walked down or the number of the bus you took but you will remember the people who laughed with you, the stories you shared and the adventures you experienced together.

The best part of travelling somewhere new is discovering the wonderful people who become part of your journey.

Kindly yours, Ms. Mindful Traveller
